Acupuncture and Headaches

A headache is mild to severe pain in one or more parts of the head.  Headaches vary in severity and are often described as a pounding, dull, throbbing pain and or a band or pressure around the head.  They can last a few minutes, a few days and or for months.  Associated  symptoms are sensitivity to light, noise,  odors, nausea, vomiting, stress, depression,  loss of appetite,  stomach upset, and or abdominal pain.   With headaches, it is always important to evaluate the head, neck, sinuses and ears.  Inflammation, degeneration, arthritis and or blockage of energy can result in headaches.

Acupuncture,  nutrition, and or cupping have been used to relieve headaches as well as their underlying causes for thousands of years.  Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) does not recognize headaches as one particular syndrome.  Instead, it aims to treat the specific symptoms that are unique to each individual.
