Abdominal Pain
Abdominal pain is any unpleasant and painful sensation in the abdominal region. The abdomen is an anatomical area that is bounded by the lower margin of the ribs and diaphragm above, the pelvic bone below, and the flanks on each side. The organs of the abdomen include the stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. Occasionally, pain may be felt in the abdomen even though it is arising from organs that are close to, but not within, the abdominal cavity. For example, conditions of the lower lungs, the kidneys, and the uterus or ovaries can cause abdominal pain. Pain lasting more than a few days, be sure to first check with your doctor to rule out any serious or life threatening conditions.
Acupuncture Treats Abdominal Pain
Acupuncture can increase the body’s natural production of endorphins and white blood cells to stimulate natural pain killers and harmonize the central nervous system. This releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord and brain to reduce pain and increase the body’s ability to heal. These biochemical changes support the body’s natural healing abilities, improve circulation, and promote physical and emotional well-being. Angie will also look for underlining conditions, including ears, sinuses and more..
Acupuncture Effectively Treats Abdominal Pain
Acupuncture is very effective in treating abdominal pain. Treatment frequency and number of treatments needed depend on a variety of factors; the severity and duration of the symptoms and the quality and quantity of your Qi. Some people experience immediate relief; others may take weeks or even months to achieve results. Angie may suggest one or two treatments per week, or monthly visits for health maintenance and seasonal “tune-ups”.
